Video marketing is a preferred method to promote business these days. It is a great marketing tool that can help you stay relevant and help guide potential clients towards you. However, creating a video may take a lot of work especially when you haven’t done it before. The good thing is, there are tools or software that you can use to help you make amazing videos.
One of our favorite video marketing method is by using a whiteboard animation software like Doodly. In today’s blog, we will learn how to use Doodly for your B2B marketing. If you have just recently purchased Doodly or looking to purchase it, then this video is for you.
Before we get to details, let us first know what a whiteboard animation is and how it is different from a typical video ad.
Whiteboard animation is a type of video where an animator uses a whiteboard to draw concepts or diagrams. It is a great way to illustrate complex ideas and make complex processes easier to understand. It’s different from traditional animation techniques because there aren’t any drawings or illustrations involved in it.
Whiteboard videos will definitely direct your audience’s attention right where you want it to be — on your message! Anyone who has spent time in an office environment, or has worked in sales knows how important it is to capture the attention of others.
Common uses for whiteboard videos are demonstrations, tutorials, marketing videos, and explainer videos. They can be used to highlight features of a product or a service in an engaging way that entertains viewers while educating them about the topic at hand.
According to a study conducted by Wistia, people spend about 1.4x more time on pages with video than those without. This shows that video marketing works. However, not all videos achieve a high view rate. So when you post a video, it is important to make sure that it is engaging enough, easy and fun to watch.
One of the biggest differences between traditional videos and whiteboard animation or explainer videos is that whiteboard explainers are more personal. Traditional videos tend to have one person talking directly at the camera, while with whiteboard explainer videos, you can have multiple people speaking simultaneously on camera. This makes them more exciting than just one person talking on screen alone, since it gives viewers an opportunity to interact with each other during the course of the video production process.
Whiteboard explainer videos are the new trend in online marketing. They’re simple, easy to create and can be used in many different ways.
Whether you’re a blogger looking for an alternative to video content or a marketer trying to attract specific audiences, whiteboard explainer videos are worth considering. Here’s how they differ from traditional video content:
Okay, so you need to create a video ad, you have your Doodly software up but you just don’t know where to start. Don’t panic, Doodly have several preset templates that you can use to trigger that creativity in you. Let’s get started.
First, click the Template tab from the main menu.
This will launch the different presets available within Doodly. Let’s use the template 60-Second Teaser. Now that we have the template set, let’s look at the features that you need to customize.
Texts
First one on the list is text. Before you create your Doodly video, you might want to first outline your script so it will be easier for you to plot things in your scenes. This saves you time during the video creation process. If you don’t have a deadline to catch, you can use the template to brainstorm your plot and use it as basis of your storyline.
To start editing the texts, just double-click the text placeholders in your template and override it by typing your script details. With Doodly, you can easily just drag and drop assets into your scenes including the font style.
If you have a specific font style that is used for your brand, you can use it by importing it into Doodly’s font collection. Just click Text from the Asset panel, then click the blue plus “+” sign at the bottom of the fonts.
Be careful when using too large or too small font sizes in your video. This can affect the readability of your content and large font may cause seizures in some viewers.
Audio Track
The bottom portion of the edit page is the timeline. The last two menus within the timeline are used for audio tracks: background music and voiceover. Preset templates already have an added background music and these tracks are carefully selected to make sure that it matches the vibe of your video.
If you have your own background music and wish to use them on your presentation, you can import it by clicking the Sounds tab from the Asset panel. Make sure you choose either All or My Library from the Sounds category to see the blue plus “+” icon so you can add your own music.
Characters and Props
If you wish to change the preset characters, or add more props to your video, you can choose from the available images under the Assets tab or upload your own. You can flip them to either left or right depending on where you need them to face. Supported image formats are JPEG, PNG, GIF and SVG files.
Background
The props within the preset background are movable elements, which lets you individually select props that you only wish to move. If you want to keep the background business-like, or you want it to be the same all throughout the video, you can change it by selecting each asset from the layer’s menu that are part of the background and hit the delete button on your keyboard. After that, select a new background from the Props tab or upload your own.
Voiceover
There are two ways for you to add a voiceover: you can either import a pre-recorded voiceover or record your voiceover directly in Doodly.
If you prefer to record your voiceover, you can use the subtitle field within the Scene settings to input your script. You can read your script and record your voice as your video plays.
To record your voiceover, just click the “+” sign at the bottom of the timeline. A preview of your video will pop-up. Start reading your script as the video plays. If you need to sync your recording with your video, you can try to move your recording by sliding it within the timeline, adjust the animation duration, set a delay or add extra time at the end of your video.
Depending on your video needs, you can also add a sound effect, change your whiteboard to a black or green board, use a glass board, customize the hand that is writing on your board and more.
Lastly, after editing your video, its time to export it. Depending on where you will upload it, make sure that you choose the right resolution. Keep your video as short as possible. Remember that people these days are always in a hurry. It’s easy to swipe up or swipe left to move on to the next video so keep your video short but informative, engaging but not crowded with unnecessary assets.
Whiteboard animation is indeed a great way to promote your business and engage your audience. They really help in simplifying your complex ideas to the core elements, thus, making it easy for the customer or viewer to absorb and understand them easily. Doodly offers a real platform for all sorts of business owners and marketing teams to create an animated video on their own so that they can build trust, generate leads and attract visitors to their website.
We hope this simple walkthrough gives you an idea on how you can use Doodly’s preset template and turn them into your own B2B marketing video.
See you on our next blog, happy doodling!
