In the past, if you wanted to create promotional videos, you would have to go out and hire a videographer who knew how to make videos. That was a pretty costly scenario. But the new world of video editing and production is changing the way people capture video content. With tools like TikTok, anyone can now create home tours, virtual tours, and more. And to add to the fun, you can use whiteboard animation software like Doodly to edit your video.

There are plenty of ways to advertise your real estate services, but using TikTok might just be one of the best ways to advertise. With an array of platform features, you can engage customers and attract more inquiries.

Real Estate Videos and TikTok

Traditional real estate videos have their place. But what about when you want to reach a younger, more engaged audience? Tiktok could be the answer. As you probably know, Tiktok is a social media app where users can share short videos. It's increasingly popular with millennials, making it the perfect platform for reaching potential first-time homebuyers. With Tiktok, there's no telling what you'll see next. In today's article, we're going to create a short video as a lead magnet.

The first step to creating your video is to set up the right video size. Since Doodly's video format is horizontal, you need to change it so your video can match TikTok's interface.

Step 1 - Change the Video Size

Here's how you set up the aspect ratio or size of your video:

1. Open Doodly and select CREATE VIDEO.

2. On Create new video pop-up, change the resolution to Custom.

3. Untick Constraint aspect ratio and set resolution width to 1080 and height 1920.

4. Don't forget to add your title.

5. Lastly, hit Create.

Step 2 - Create your Doodly Video

After setting up the aspect ratio of your video, it's time to work on your scenes.

1. Upload your image.

If you have a cover image that you want to use for your video, you can upload it in Doodly. Doodly supports PNG, JPEG, SVG, and GIF Files. To upload your image, select the Props tab, then click the plus "+" sign as shown below. Locate your file from your computer and select it. You can rename the uploaded image to make it easier for you to search should you need to use them again in the future.

2. Add props and characters.

Some brands have their own theme and style. If you prefer to use your brand's characters and props, feel free to import them into Doodly. You can also use Doodly's pre-existing characters to add more life to your scenes. You can get all these preinstalled assets from the Props and Characters tab within the Asset menu.

3. Add texts.

After adding your assets, you can start to input your texts. Doodly provides an array of font styles that you can choose from. If you prefer to use a specific font style, you can import it and use it in your Doodly video too. Just click Text from the Asset Menu and click the blue plus "+" sign to import it.

Tip:If you wish to create a shadow effect on your texts, you can copy-paste your text and place the copied text on top of the original one. The color of your text at the bottom should be darker than the one on top.

4. Add a background.

Doodly provides different preset scenes, which you can locate from the Scenes tab of Doodly's Asset menu. You can use it as your background and build your video using the preset scenes. If you have a theme that you want to use for your video, simply upload it just like any other image.

Tip:To make sure your background won't overpower your video, you can lower down its opacity to 50% or less, depending on your preference.

5. Change the animation style.

Not all images in your video need to be drawn. For some images, can set it to fade. This automatically reveals your image instead of being scribbled by hand. For our example below, we set the cover image to fade instead of having a hand scribble it. To do this, you can select the image, tick the pencil icon, then set the Reveal mode to Fade.

6. Change the animation duration.

Apart from changing how the image is being revealed on your video, you can also set the animation duration of each image. Depending on your preference, you can make the drawing or fading of your image either fast or slow. There are two locations where you can edit your image's animation duration: the Layers menu and within the Edit Asset settings.

7. Rearrange your layers.

Most of the time, you add your characters and props in the order of their appearance to your video. Usually, the assets placed on top of your scene are revealed first as your video plays. If any of the assets are not in the right order, you can simply rearrange them from the Layers menu.

8. Disable Erase mode.

If you noticed, Doodly's default settings involve an erase gesture where it shows a hand holding an eraser, erasing the image before it gets drawn. This feature is ideal when you are working on texts, but for drawing an image, it is best to just draw it straight out. To turn off this feature, you must go to Video settings and set Erase Mode to "OFF".

9. Change the hand style.

Doodly offers both real hands and cartoon hands that you can use in your presentation. You can choose to draw with either left-hand or right-hand, and you can also decide whether to include a hand drawing your image and writing your texts. The hand working on your video plays an important role in attracting viewers' attention, so pick one that stands out or matches the theme of your video. If you don't want to show an actual hand working on your video, there's also an option for that.

10. Add a voice-over.

You can choose to either upload your own recording or record your spiel directly in Doodly. If you don't want your voice in the background but have a script you want to include in your video, you can try TikTok's text-to-speech feature instead. To do this, you have to upload your video to TikTok via mobile phone.

11. Apply Delays.

You might need to adjust the timing of how your images are being revealed to match your voiceover. Don't worry, you don't need to make a huge adjustment to do this. All you have to do is set a delay on some of your assets, and this should help you get the right timing for your video.

12. Set extra time at the end.

Lastly, you can add extra time at the end of your video should you need more time to deliver your script.

Step 3 - Export the Doodly Video

When you are satisfied with how your video plays, you can start to export your video. If you wish to change your video's location, you can do so by clicking Change on your video's destination location. The file format defaults to mp4, and the resolution is set to the custom settings you set at the start of the process, which is 1080 x 1920. When you are ready, just click EXPORT and hit Continue.

Step 4 - Import Video to TikTok

Since we edited the video on the computer, we will also upload it using the same device. If you find it easier to upload using a mobile phone, you can definitely do so. All you have to do is use a file-sharing app to transfer your file from your computer to your mobile phone. You can also upload the video in your Google Drive and access your Google Drive on your phone to download it, or just attach the video to your email, download it on your phone then import it to TikTok.

To import the video to Tiktok using a desktop or a laptop, follow these steps:

1. Log on to tiktok.com and sign in.

2. Click the upload button.

3. Locate your video from your desktop and upload it.

4. Add a catchy caption. You can include hashtags (#) and mentions (@) in this field.

5. Select a cover.

6. Set who can view your video.

7. You can enable or disable the comments section, duet, and stitch options.

8.Hit Post after.

If you wish to add more to it like music, filters, stickers, and other effects, you need to upload them on your mobile phone.

Here now is the uploaded TikTok video:

In General...

In general, the steps suggested above can deliver a memorable lead magnet video for your real estate business. We hope this article gave you a better understanding on how you can create real estate Doodly videos that you can use and upload on TikTok.
