NEW FEATURE
Timing Option for Audio Tracks and Camera Movements
First in our list is the timing option. Doodly's latest version, 2.9.10, introduces the timing option for audio tracks and camera movements.
Timing can be found within pan & zoom, music track and voiceover row within timeline.
This new menu lets you do two things:
a. Set the Start Time
Users can now adjust the start time of audio tracks and panning & zooming segments with precision by just doing a right-click, ensuring that videos are perfectly synchronized and polished.
Here's how to set the start time:
- In the timeline, locate the audio track you want to adjust. It can be your voiceover, the background music or a sound effect. This can also be used when setting up pan & zoom effect in your video.
- Once you have identified the audio type that you want to adjust, right-click on the track within the timeline.
- A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to adjust the start time.
- After making the necessary adjustments, click "Apply" to save your changes.
b. Automatic Shifting
From the same screen, we also added a tickbox for automatic shifting. If you need to adjust subsequent elements in the timeline, just select the tickbox to automatically adjust all subsequent items and prevent timing changes that could cause subsequent elements to become out of sync.
Here's how it works:
- From the timeline, choose an audio row you wish to adjust.
- When you're all set, right-click and choose Timing.
- Set your preferred start time e.g. (3 seconds) then tick the automatic shifting just below it.
- You will notice that all the audio files from the same row shifts to the right. This ensures that the distance between each track remains the same, even if you adjust the start time of an audio file. This feature is particularly useful when using multiple audio files in the same row.
- If you try to set a start time without ticking the automatic shifting, only the selected audio track will move. The rest of the audio tracks on the same row will stay on the same spot.
Voiceover Insertion
Next notable feature in Doodly's latest version is the ability to insert voiceovers at any position in the audio timeline. Before, recording a voiceover always starts at the beginning of your video. While you can always move it within the timeline, having the ability to record immediately to a specific timeline in your video, gives so much flexibility and saves time during the editing process. This is now made possible with the new voiceover insertion feature of Doodly 2.9.10.
Here's how you can use this feature:
- First, locate the voice recording row in the timeline.
- Next, position your mouse cursor to the timeline where you want your voiceover to be added.
- Then, right-click and select "Record Audio" from the context menu that appears.
- Finally, start recording your audio.
This new feature eliminates the need to record audio separately and import it into the software, saving you time and effort. With this improved functionality, you can now easily record and place your audio wherever you want in the timeline, allowing for a more seamless and efficient workflow.
Subtitle Control
Doodly 2.9.10 also introduces a new feature that gives users more control over subtitles. You can now break subtitles and delay their appearance to match the timing of the voiceover, without the need to duplicate your scenes or overcrowd your videos. This update allows you to input long subtitles while maintaining a clean and organized look for your scenes
Here's how it's done:
- Choose the scene where you want to add subtitles.
- Select Scene Settings.
- Toggle the subtitle menu to ON.
- Enter your subtitle in the provided space.
- Add the tag '
' to split the subtitle into several parts. - You can also add the tag '<delay:seconds>' if you want to delay the split subtitle for a few seconds. For example, '<delay:3>' will delay the split subtitle for 3 seconds.
- Preview your video and adjust the timing of the subtitle as necessary.

Fortunately, with the latest update to Doodly, users can now set the 'End Time' minimum value for subtitles to zero, giving them much greater control over their subtitle timing.
