By the end of this guide, you’ll be ready to create your own 2025 roadmap video.
It’s time to make your goals shine and captivate your audience with something fresh, creative, and professional.
If you're planning a big project or launching a new campaign, this guide will help you kickstart the year with impact!
Alright, before we jump into the how-to, let’s take a moment to understand why whiteboard videos are such a powerful tool for communicating your 2025 roadmap.
The truth is, visuals are incredibly effective at capturing attention and helping people retain information.
Studies show that people remember 80% of what they see and only 20% of what they read.
That’s a huge difference when you’re trying to get your message across!
Whiteboard videos are especially impactful because they combine visuals with storytelling.
They take complex ideas and break them down into bite-sized pieces that are easy to follow.
This kind of visual storytelling taps into how our brains process information—images and narratives stick with us far longer than text alone.
Plus, they’re FUN! And let’s be honest—everyone loves a good doodle.
The simplicity of a whiteboard video allows your audience to focus on the message, without distractions.
It’s like having a personal tutor who makes even the most complex concepts seem simple and enjoyable.
In fact, studies have shown that videos, in general, increase engagement by 120%.
But when those videos are animated or use a whiteboard format, the engagement level soars even higher.
The hand-drawn animation captures your audience’s attention, and because it’s interactive and dynamic, viewers are more likely to stay engaged until the very end.
So, if you’re thinking about presenting your corporate roadmap, explaining a community initiative, or even laying out your personal goals for 2025, whiteboard videos are a fantastic way to make sure your message stands out.
They help communicate your vision in a way that’s both memorable and fun!
So, now that we know why whiteboard videos are a powerful tool, let’s dive into what your 2025 roadmap should actually include.
A roadmap isn’t just a set of goals—it’s a clear, visual representation of your direction for the year ahead.
It’s like creating a detailed itinerary for a big adventure: it highlights where you’re headed, how you’ll get there, and why it matters.
For our sample company, Acme Tech Solutions, the 2025 roadmap revolves around three key pillars: innovation, sustainability, and community impact.
These are the driving forces behind every initiative and decision the company makes.
Innovation
This is where you get to showcase your forward-thinking ideas.
Maybe it’s an exciting new product, like a next-gen AI platform, or a new way of doing things that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible.
Highlighting innovation shows your audience that your company is evolving and staying ahead of the curve.
Research suggests that businesses focused on innovation are more likely to outperform their competition.
Sustainability
Now, more than ever, businesses are expected to act responsibly toward the environment.
Your roadmap should reflect any sustainability goals you’ve set for the year.
Whether it’s reducing carbon emissions, increasing energy efficiency, or introducing waste-reduction programs, showing that you care about sustainability can boost your company’s image and help attract both customers and employees who value environmental responsibility.
A study found that 70% of consumers expect companies to take real action on climate change.
Community Impact
Finally, your roadmap should highlight your commitment to making a difference in your community.
This can include initiatives like providing access to technology for underserved areas or launching educational programs.
Companies that make community impact a priority often see increased employee satisfaction and customer loyalty, as employees and customers feel proud to be part of something bigger than just profits.
These three pillars—innovation, sustainability, and community impact—are the backbone of a solid roadmap. And while your roadmap is a living document that evolves over time, these values should always guide your decisions and actions.
Now that you’ve got the key elements of your 2025 roadmap ready, it’s time to bring them to life with Doodly!
Creating a whiteboard video might seem like a big task, but it’s actually simple and incredibly effective for conveying your message.
With Doodly’s intuitive platform, you can transform your vision into a visual masterpiece that communicates your goals clearly, creatively, and—most importantly—engagingly.
But how do you take those big ideas and turn them into a captivating video?
Start by breaking down your roadmap’s key themes—innovation, sustainability, and community impact—into clear visual components.
For example, use Doodly’s vast library of characters and props to illustrate futuristic technology for innovation, nature-themed elements for sustainability, and diverse groups of people for community initiatives.
The right visuals can amplify your message, ensuring it resonates with your audience long after the video ends.
And the best part?
You can customize your video’s style to match your brand’s personality.
Choose from a clean whiteboard look, a sophisticated glassboard style, or a chalkboard effect—Doodly gives you the flexibility to make your video uniquely yours.
Before jumping into creating your first scene, we need to set up the foundation of your video.
Think of this as preparing the canvas before the magic happens!
1. Click “Create New Video”
Open Doodly and hit the Create New Video button. This will kick off your 2025 roadmap masterpiece.
2. Name Your Video
In the Title field, type your video name. For this example, let’s go with Acme Road Map 2025. A clear title helps keep things organized, especially when managing multiple projects.
3. Select Your Resolution
Just below the Title field, there’s a Resolution dropdown. Choose the aspect ratio that fits your needs. For this video, we’re going with the standard 1080 horizontal presentation. It’s a safe bet for most platforms.
4. Choose Your Video Style
Now, let’s set the tone for your video. You’ve got four styles to choose from:
Let’s get a little fancy today and go with Glassboard. It’s not your everyday choice, but it’s perfect for a polished, professional vibe.
5. Create Your Video
Once you’ve finalized these settings, hit Create. This opens the Edit Video page where all the magic happens—scene by scene.
With everything set up, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and create the first scene of your 2025 roadmap!
Let’s kick off your 2025 roadmap video by crafting the title scene.
This is the very first thing your audience will see, so it’s important to make a strong impact right from the start.
Keeping it sleek and on-brand will help set the tone for the rest of the video.
Now, type your video’s title—something like "2025 Roadmap." Make sure it’s bold and clear, so viewers know exactly what to expect from the video.
First, head over to the Text section in the left menu. This is where you can get creative with fonts, colors, and styles.
For a modern and professional look that matches your roadmap’s theme, try using a font like Teko-VariableFont_wght.
It’s clean and futuristic, perfect for the vibe we’re going for.
Now, type your video’s title—something like "2025 Roadmap." Make sure it’s bold and clear, so viewers know exactly what to expect from the video.
Next, we’ll enhance the scene with an image that reflects your theme.
I chose a road image to symbolize the journey ahead, which ties directly into the concept of a roadmap.
To find the perfect image, go to Props and click the blue and white plus sign to upload your image. You can browse sites like Pixabay to find a road image that suits your needs.
Once you’ve downloaded the image, head back to Doodly and upload it.
Resize and adjust the image so that it fits nicely behind your title. Don’t worry about getting it perfect—just make sure it doesn’t distract from the text.
Now, it’s time to bring in your logo for some branding. Again, go to Props and click the blue and white plus sign to upload your logo.
Even if it doesn’t match the image perfectly, it’s still a great way to reinforce your brand identity.
Place the logo where it fits best on the screen—typically in a corner or at the bottom. If you want to get fancy, you can add a hand-drawn effect to your logo, giving it a unique touch.
Here’s how you make your draw paths:
With the title, image, and logo in place, it’s time to adjust the timing. In the Layers section, you can set how long each element will stay on screen.
Here’s a sample timing setup for this scene:
To make everything flow seamlessly, add 3 extra seconds at the end of the scene. Head to Scene Settings, adjust the time, and hit Apply.
Once it’s looking great, you’re ready to move on to the next scene!
You’ve laid a great foundation with the first scene—now, let’s bring Innovation to life in scene two.
This scene combines tech-savvy visuals and a professional character to amplify your message.
Start by adding the word "Innovation" to your canvas. Make it bold and prominent at the top of the scene to grab attention.
Set the animation to delay 0 seconds and last for 1.5 seconds.
Duplicate this scene to make 3 more scenes. We will need it to create the rest of the scenes, using the same text style and format.
Next, within scene 2, let’s incorporate some visuals that scream technology. From the Props menu, grab a computer icon and place it slightly to the left of the canvas.
Set its animation to delay 0 seconds and last for 1.5 seconds. Now, find a robot head prop and resize it to fit snugly within the computer screen.
This creative combination makes the scene visually striking and emphasizes innovation. Set the robot head’s animation to delay 0 seconds and last for 2 seconds.
Let’s make the logo reveal itself smoothly instead of being drawn. To do this:
Bring in Baco Business Man from the Characters menu to add a human touch to the scene. Position him just below the text "Innovation", slightly to the right of the computer.
Make him larger to ensure he stands out, as he represents the professional side of innovation. Set his animation to delay 1 second and last for 3 seconds.
For a futuristic touch, search for a circuit board in the Props menu and place it in the background.
Adjust its opacity to 10% using the gear icon to keep it subtle. Since this element is purely decorative, set its animation duration to 0 seconds.
Go to the Scene Settings menu and ensure Erase Mode is set to Off.
To give the scene some breathing room, add 4.5 seconds of extra time at the end and hit Apply.
Here’s the final Layers menu order for Scene 2:
Once everything is in place, preview your work to make sure it flows seamlessly. With Scene 2 complete, you’re ready to move forward!
Now that we’ve covered Innovation, let’s shift gears to our next big theme—Sustainability.
This is where Acme Tech Solutions shows its commitment to creating a greener future.
From reducing our carbon footprint to embracing renewable energy, sustainability is a cornerstone of our 2025 roadmap.
Let’s bring this vision to life in our third scene!
We’ll start with the word "Sustainability" appearing in the upper left corner.
The hand will draw it in, setting the scene for what's to come. Keep the timing here short and snappy:
Next, let’s add the car image to the scene.
The car should have smoke coming out of its exhaust, creating a nice speech bubble effect. This car will sit just below the "Sustainability" text.
The hand will then write the message “Reduce carbon footprint by 40%” inside the smoke.
Here’s how we’ll time it:
Below the word "Sustainability," let’s write "Green Energy Initiatives".
To highlight it, add a green checkmark in front of it. We’ll use a similar setup for the next text element too.
Here’s how the timing will go:
Underneath Green Energy Initiatives, let’s add the next message: “Waste Reduction Program.”
Again, we’ll add another checkmark in front of it. The timing will be the same as before:
To wrap up the scene, we’ll have everything transition smoothly to the left by default.
This is the default transition setting in Doodly, but if you prefer something different, you can change the transition style in Scene Settings under Exit Animation.
If you want to keep it simple and seamless, the default left swipe works perfectly to set the stage for the next scene.
Layers Menu Setup:
With Sustainability covered, it’s time to spotlight Community Impact, Acme Tech Solutions’ pledge to uplift and empower people.
In this scene, we’ll highlight the Tech for Tomorrow initiative, which provides 10,000 students access to cutting-edge technology.
Let’s build this scene step by step!
We'll start by writing “Community Impact” in the upper left corner of the screen, just like we've done before.
The hand will draw it in, giving this crucial message its moment to shine.
Keep the timing nice and clean:
Let’s amp up the energy in this scene with a crowd of happy, cheering fans!
Since Doodly doesn’t include this type of image by default, you can easily find one on royalty-free platforms like Freepik or Pixabay.
Download the image and upload it into Doodly.
Look for a silhouette-style crowd featuring white figures outlined in black—perfect for capturing the vibe of an enthusiastic group.
Once uploaded, position the crowd along the bottom of the screen to serve as the lively backdrop.
This image will remain static, appearing right from the start without animation:
Now comes the exciting part—let’s bring in a woman holding a placard.
The hand will draw her in next, making sure she’s front and center to deliver the message.
We'll set the timing for this image so it stays visible for a solid 3 seconds, giving the viewer time to absorb the importance of the initiative:
Next, we’ll reveal the logo in a smooth and subtle way by setting its Reveal Mode to Fade.
We want the logo to appear without the usual hand-drawn animation so it doesn’t distract from the key message.
It will pop up after the placard image, staying visible for 0.5 seconds to reinforce the brand. Here’s how it will look:
Finally, let’s finish things off by writing “Tech for Tomorrow” on the placard.
This text will be drawn in by hand, completing the message and reinforcing the initiative’s mission.
The timing is simple and direct to keep the focus on the message:
Layers Menu Setup:
This scene emphasizes the importance of giving back to the community.
It's all about highlighting the impact we can make together with initiatives like Tech for Tomorrow.
You’ve got a solid message to leave the audience inspired, and with all the elements in place, it will be clear that this is a cause worth supporting!
This is the moment where you leave a lasting impression and encourage your audience to act.
The final scene serves as your Call to Action (CTA), wrapping up your video with purpose and clarity.
For this scene, simplicity speaks volumes. Let’s make it clean, memorable, and professional.
Step 1: Showcase Your Logo
Start by positioning your logo front and center. The hand animation will draw or write your logo, making it the focal point of the scene.
This keeps your branding strong and recognizable.
Step 2: Add Your Website
Right below the logo, include your website address: www.AcmeTechSolutions.com.
This is where your audience can learn more or take the next step. Make sure the website is clearly visible and easy to read.
Step 3: Leave Them Anticipating More
At the upper left corner, write Stay Tuned… to create excitement for what’s to come.
This text adds a subtle yet effective nudge for your audience to keep watching your updates.
Layers Menu Setup:
Some Creative Suggestions for Your CTA Scene
If you want to add some extra flair to your final scene, here are a few ideas to consider.
These are practical and engaging ways to ensure your CTA scene stands out and leaves a lasting impact on your audience.
1. Highlight Your Social Media Profiles
Instead of just showing your website, include your social media icons and handles.
Position them neatly below your logo or website address. Use a fun animation to introduce them, like having the icons bounce onto the screen.
This way, you encourage your audience to connect with you on platforms where they can stay updated more frequently.
2. Incorporate a Strong Tagline or Slogan
Add a tagline that sums up your brand’s mission or a catchy phrase that sticks with your viewers.
Place it under your logo or at the bottom of the screen.
For instance, something like “Empowering Innovations, One Step at a Time” can leave a memorable impression.
Use the hand animation to write it out dynamically, adding that extra layer of engagement.
3. Showcase a Discount or Special Offer
If your video promotes a product or service, use the CTA scene to highlight an irresistible offer.
For example, “Visit us now for 20% off your first purchase!” This gives viewers a compelling reason to act immediately.
You can even use Doodly’s text animation tools to make the offer appear in bold, striking colors for emphasis.
4. Add a Countdown or Urgent Message
Create urgency by including a countdown or time-sensitive message, like “Offer Ends January 31st!”
Position this at the bottom of the screen, and use a flashing effect or bold red text to draw attention.
Pair this with your website or contact information to motivate quick action.
5. Include a Testimonial or Customer Review
Make your audience feel confident about your brand by showcasing a brief testimonial or review.
Add a line like “What our customers say: ‘Acme Tech Solutions changed the way we do business!’”
Use Doodly’s text animation to reveal this in an engaging way, perhaps with a speech bubble effect near your logo or website.
6. Add a Sneak Peek or Teaser for the Next Video
If you have upcoming content or projects, hint at them here.
Include a message like “Coming Soon: The Future of Tech Innovation—Stay Tuned!”
Pair this with a subtle background animation, like a light bulb or rocket, to build excitement.
It not only wraps up your current video but also keeps your audience anticipating the next one.
With these ideas, you can make your CTA scene feel more personal and engaging.
The goal is to not just end the video but to leave your audience inspired to take action, connect with you, and look forward to what’s coming next.
Before wrapping up your video, let’s add the essential finishing touches: voiceovers, music, and timing adjustments.
These steps will ensure everything comes together seamlessly.
Step 1: Add a Voiceover
1. Record Directly in Doodly
In the timeline, click the microphone icon, then click the plus sign (+). A red mic icon will appear—click it to start recording your voiceover as the video plays.
This is a simple way to sync your narration with the animation.
2. Import a Pre-Recorded Voiceover
If you’ve recorded your voice elsewhere, upload the file into Doodly by dragging it into the timeline.
3. Record Per Scene
Since Doodly doesn’t allow cutting or splitting audio files, it’s best to record or upload your voiceover scene-by-scene.
This makes it easier to adjust timing later.
4. Sync the Voiceover
Drag the recorded or imported audio file along the timeline to align it with the visuals perfectly.
Quick Tip: If you use third-party apps to record (e.g., Audacity or GarageBand), record short clips for each scene rather than one long file.
Step 2: Add Background Music
1. Choose from Doodly’s Built-In Sounds
Head over to the Sounds menu to explore Doodly’s library of pre-installed music tracks and sound effects.
Preview the tracks and pick one that best fits the tone of your video.
2. Upload Your Own Music
If you already have a favorite background track, upload it into Doodly and drag it into the audio section within the timeline.
3. Adjust the Volume
To ensure your background music doesn’t overpower the voiceover, locate the volume icon beside the music note within the timeline, next to the audio track.
Click it and adjust the volume to your liking. It’s best to set it to around 10% for a balanced audio mix.
Always preview your video to confirm that the music complements the voiceover without interfering.
4. Trim the Music
If your music track runs longer than your video, hover your mouse over the end of the track.
When you see a double-sided arrow, click and drag it back to align with the end of your final scene.
5. Apply Fade In and Fade Out Effects
For a professional touch, right-click the music track, then select Fade In at the start and Fade Out at the end.
This creates a smoother transition for your audio.
Quick Tip: The right background music enhances your message. A soft melody can inspire, while upbeat tracks can energize—pick what works best for your content.
Step 3: Fine-Tune the Timing & Export Your Video
1. Adjust Delays and Durations
Now that your voiceover and background music are set, it's time to fine-tune the timing.
You can adjust delays or animation durations directly from the Layers menu.
This allows you to sync everything perfectly with your voiceover and background music.
2. Add Extra Time If Needed
If you feel like a scene is moving too fast or doesn’t give enough time for your elements to fully appear, add a few extra seconds.
You can do this by going into the Scene Settings and adjusting the "Extra Time" at the end of each scene.
This will help everything flow smoothly.
3. Preview the Video
Don’t skip this step! Hit the preview button to watch your video in action.
Make sure everything syncs well—voiceover, music, animations, and timing.
If something feels off, go back and adjust the timing until it’s just right.
4. Save Your Work
Once you're satisfied with the timing and everything flows just as you want it, click the Save button.
This will save your progress and ensure you don’t lose any work.
5. Export the Video
When you’re ready to share your creation, simply click the Export button in Doodly.
Choose the file type and quality you need, and Doodly will render your video.
Quick Tip: Always preview before exporting to double-check transitions and timing. A final review ensures your video is polished and professional.
Once everything is perfect, save and export your video. Here’s a sample of what the final product could look like:
You’ve done it! Your 2025 roadmap is no longer just a plan—it’s a story brought to life through the magic of whiteboard animation. By combining creativity with clarity, you’ve crafted a video that not only inspires action but also resonates with your audience and makes your goals unforgettable.
